Cookie policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026
This site uses very few cookies. Nothing that tracks you across other websites, and no analytics unless you say yes.
1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file the browser stores so a website can remember something between pages or visits. Under Greek law (Law 3471/2006, art. 4(5)) and the GDPR, cookies that are not strictly necessary require your consent.
2. Strictly necessary cookies and local storage
These are needed for the site and the things you explicitly ask for, such as the Mētis chat, to work, and do not require consent. Local storage items stay on your device and are not sent to any server automatically.
- metisly_locale (cookie): remembers whether you chose Greek or English. Lifetime: 12 months.
- metisly_consent (cookie): remembers your decision in the cookie banner so we do not ask again. Lifetime: 12 months.
- metis_session_id (local storage): a random ID for your Mētis conversation so the agent can continue the same chat. It does not identify you. Lifetime: until you start a new conversation or clear site data.
- metis_log (local storage): a copy of the conversation on your device so you still see it after a reload. Lifetime: as above.
- metisly_theme (local storage): remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. Lifetime: until you clear site data.
- Bot protection (Vercel BotID): when you send a message to Mētis, an invisible security check confirms the request comes from a browser rather than an automated script. It is used only for security, not for tracking.
3. Analytics (with your consent)
If you accept, we load Vercel Analytics, Vercel Speed Insights and Google Analytics 4. They measure page views, where visitors come from (for example Google or social networks), which pages are popular and how fast the site loads on real devices. They are not used for advertising or to follow you to other sites; Google Signals and ads personalisation are switched off. If you decline, nothing is loaded, and if you change your mind later, measurement stops.
Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Ltd. Data may be processed on Google servers in the USA under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the Standard Contractual Clauses.
- _ga: Google Analytics visitor identifier (a random number, not your name). Lifetime: 2 years.
- _ga_<id>: keeps the current Google Analytics session. Lifetime: 2 years.
- Vercel Analytics stores no cookies.
4. The Mētis chat
The chat uses metis_session_id and metis_log described above. The copy on your device is removed with "New conversation" or when you clear site data. For the messages that reach us, see the privacy policy.
5. Changing your choice
You can change your decision at any time from the "Cookie settings" link in the footer, or by deleting the site's cookies in your browser. You can also block cookies entirely in your browser settings; the site still works, but your language choice will not be remembered. In the banner you can accept all, reject all with one click, or choose per category under "Customize".
